Hinganghat (Representative): The Commerce Department of the local Matoshree Ashatai Kunavar Arts, Commerce and Science Mahila Mahavidyalaya celebrated ‘*World Consumer Day’* with enthusiasm.
On this occasion, a Rangoli competition and a poster making competition were organized to create awareness among the students about consumer rights.
While inaugurating the program, the chief guest Dr. Rajiv Kalaskar (Vice President, Consumer Complaints Forum, Samudrapur) highlighted the legal rights of consumers. He said, “In today’s digital era, consumers should not just buy goods, but also consider it their duty to ask for bills and check the quality of the goods. In case of fraud, the ‘Consumer Forum’ is a platform for the rights of the common man.”
In his presidential address, Dr. Rajvilas Karmore, Principal of Tulskar College of Science and Technology, appreciated the art of the students. He said, “Education should not be just about books, but should also give an understanding of real-life transactions. Such competitions create an understanding of social issues among the students.”
Prof. Vaishali Tadas, Head of the Department of Commerce, while introducing the program, said, “The purpose of the Department of Commerce is not just to give degrees, but to make every student a ‘conscious citizen’ and a ‘smart consumer’.” Dr. Sapna Jaiswal, while expressing her views, praised the students and appealed to everyone to be aware and know their consumer rights.
Rangoli and poster making competitions were held based on the concept of ‘Consumer Protection’
In this, the students commented on the web of advertisements and consumer fraud through attractive artworks. The Rangoli and Poster Competition was judged by Nilesh Varabhe, Art and Craft Teacher of Brilliant CBSC School.
Sakshi Zade won first place in the Rangoli competition, Khemika Parkhi won second place and
Laxmi Kolhe won first place and Pallavi Raghatate won second place in the Poster Making Competition.
Prof. Mayur Gandhi, Prof. Roshni Narwade and Prof. Khushbu Katulwar were the chief guests on the occasion. The poster competition was organized by Prof. Roshni Narwade and the Rangoli competition was organized by Prof. Khushbu Katulwar. The program was moderated by Ms. Khemika Parkhi, while Ms. Vaishnavi Kapte thanked the attendees.
