Water Conservation Day was celebrated at Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Arts, Commerce and Science Women’s College, Hinganghat, with a strong message of water conservation. The programme was organized by the Cultural Department and the Student Development Department in accordance with the university guidelines, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hon. Sudhakarrao Naik. The programme was presided over by the Principal of the college, Hon. Dr. Umesh Tulsakar. Hon. Dr. Rajvilas Karamore was present as the Chief Guest and Guest Speaker. The Vice-Principal, Dr. Sapna Jaiswal; Head of the Commerce Department, Prof. Vaishali Tads; Head of the Science Department, Prof. Shital Karamore; Head of the Arts Department, Prof. Bhagyashree Sabale; and Head of the Cultural Department, Prof. Sangita Landge, were also present on the occasion. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and offering of floral tribute to the portrait of the former Chief Minister and Jalnayak, Hon. Sudhakarrao Naik. In his address, Chief Guest Hon. Dr. Rajvilas Karamore explained the importance of water conservation and gave the students the inspiring message, “Save Water, Build the Future.” He encouraged the students to understand the value of water and contribute towards its conservation. Principal Dr. Umesh Tulsakar also highlighted the importance of water conservation and emphasized that conserving water is the need of the hour. The period from 15 August to 21 August 2026 was observed as Water Conservation Week. As part of the week-long activities, an essay competition was organized and prizes were distributed to the winners. In the senior section, Ms. Rohini Sontakke, a B.A. Third Year student, secured the first position, while Ms. Anushree Moon secured the second position. In the junior section, Manthan Kale, Class XI Commerce, secured the first position, while Sampada Ingole, Class XI Arts, secured the second position. The winners were felicitated with prizes for their achievements. The students and staff also took the Water Conservation Pledge as per the directives of the Government of Maharashtra. The programme was compered by Prof. Sangita Landge, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Bhagyashree Sabale. The programme was successfully conducted with the active and valuable cooperation of all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The programme conveyed an important message that every drop of water is precious and its conservation is essential for a sustainable future.
