Department of Zoology ___

The Department of Zoology was established in 2018. We have all CHB faculties since 2018.Ms. ShitaL P. Dharmik, Ms. Pranita D. Ashtankar, Ms. Tejaswita M. Sahastrabuddhe. For B.Sc. I yr. students NEP 2020 has been implemented from 2024-2025. Also, for M.Sc. students NEP has been implemented from 2023-2024. And the remaining semesters will have the same schedule as before until their final year will complete.

In Department of Zoology, our library has 198 books costing of Rs.47,201/- up to 15/03/2025 and also forms a sectional library of Zoology. Sectional library has different reference books and journals. These books are handed over to students for the regular use by the college library.

In Zoology, Department have a well-equipped laboratory consists of specimens of all Phyla of Invertebrates and Vertebrates as well as Bones of Fowl, Charts, Pictures, Class work materials, Permanent slides, Testing Kits. The major and minor instruments include Rotary Microtome, Micropipettes, Apparatuses, Glassware’s, chemicals as well as Compound and Dissecting Microscopes. Almost all specimens and instruments are used by students for regular practical purpose.

Students are evaluated time to time, for that purpose following practices are conducted viz. Oral, Unit-tests, Seminars, Term-end exam., Home assignments, University examination and surprised test also conducted.

Modern teaching methods practiced use of ICT in teaching–learning.

The Department regularly organized field study tour for the all B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.

Question-answer, Interaction, Group discussion, etc. on online mode throughout the year.

Demonstration of Virtual Dissection in online mode.

Explanation using Charts and PowerPoint presentations.

Use of internet facilities for providing recent information.

Use of educational Models prepared by students for better knowledge gaining.

Inauguration of Value Added Course in Vermicomposting.

Slogan Competition and film screening on the occasion of World Animal Day.

The Department regularly organized field study tour for the all B.Sc. and M.Sc. students. In the current session, there were three field visits organized by Department:

Field Visit was organized at Lasanpur Ashram and Goshala, Lasanpur. Tahsil- Samudrapur, district, Wardha to observe the daily routine and various problems encountered while handling of cattle.

Butterfly walk was organized at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park, Hinganghat to study different species of butterflies.

M.Sc. students’ field visit organized at at Government Hospital, Hinganghat to observe the daily working of health workers as well as pathologists.

The year 2023 study tour was organized at Raman Science Center, Nagpur and Maharaj Bag Zoo, Nagpur. In Raman Science Center, Nagpur, students get experience based knowledge on vaccine production and various types of bacteria and viruses. In Maharaj Bag Zoo, students learn the concept of Ex- situ Conservation of Biodiversity as well as various laws and regulations related to Environmental act.
