Event Objectives

1.      Raise awareness about how HIV spreads, encouraging preventive behaviors and the use of preventive methods like safe sex and safe injecting practices.

2.      Challenge negative attitudes and stereotypes associated with HIV/AIDS, creating a supportive environment where PLHIV are not ostracized but are viewed as valuable members of society.

3. Inform people about the importance of HIV testing, and ensure that those diagnosed are linked to care, treatment, and support services.

Event Outcomes

1.      Participants gain essential information about the causes, prevention, testing, and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

2.      Programs help to reduce social stigma and negative attitudes towards PLHIV, promoting acceptance and an inclusive environment.

3. Awareness initiatives encourage people to get tested for HIV and access necessary treatment and support services.

Event Briefs

An AIDS awareness and guest lecture program was organized at Matoshri Aashatai Kunawar Arts, Commerce, and Science Women’s College under the joint auspices of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Red Ribbon Club (RRC). The programme was presided over by Dr. Umesh Tulsakar, President of Vidya Vikas Sanstha and Principal of the college. The chief guests present were Dr. Ajay Lidbe (District Supervisor, RRC) and Smita Shambharkar (Aadhar Foundation, Wardha). Special presence was marked by Prof. Bhagyashri Sable (NSS Program Officer), Prof. Vaishali Tadas (Head, Commerce Department), and Prof. Shital Dharmik (Head, Science Department). The program commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. The introduction was given by Prof. Bhagyashri Sable. The chief guest Dr. Ajay Lidbe provided scientific information regarding AIDS to the students. Smita Shambharkar guided the students about the social life of HIV-positive individuals. In his presidential address, Dr. Umesh Tulsakar emphasized the importance of awareness among students. The program was compered by Prof. Sangita Landge, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Ambika Thaware. Faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students, contributed enthusiastically to the successful organization of the event.
