Event Objectives

To know students about the great varieties in butterflies as well as their importance in the ecosystem. Every year in the month of September Big Butterfly Month is celebrated. It is a citizen science initiative dedicated to celebrating and conserving butterflies. Our mission is to unite butterfly enthusiasts, students, families, kids, and nature lovers in contributing valuable data that enhances our understanding of these delicate wonders of nature.

Event Outcomes

1. Students understand the importance of butterflies in the ecosystem.

2. To know the importance of butterflies in pollination.

3. Students understand in detail the lifecycle of a butterfly.

4. Students observed various colourful species of butterflies.

Event Briefs

Department of Zoology of Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Arts, Commerce and Science Women’s College, Hinganghat had organized Butterfly walk (Survey) at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park, Hinganghat. In the park, students took photographs of various butterflies. Ms. Shital Dharmik madam explained about the role of butterflies for the environment and Ms. Tejaswita Sahstrabuddhe madam helped students in capturing butterfly photography. Ms.Pranita Ashtankar madam guided in detail about the identification, behaviour, plant and butterfly relationship and various other interesting facts about butterflies. We started the butterfly walk at 8.30 am. During the butterfly walk various butterfly species were observed.
