Event Briefs

Brief Description

The Botany Department of Matoshri Asha Tai Kunal Arts, Commerce and Science Women’s College in Hinghanghat recently organized a guest lecture and the inauguration of the Botanical Society on the topic “The Power of Plants and Anthropology.” Dr. Nayana Shirbhate was present as the guest speaker at this important event. The program was attended by the college principal Dr. Umesh Tulsakar, vice-principal Dr. Sapna Jaiswal, and the head of the Science Department, Prof. Shital Karmore, who showed significant presence. Prof. Darshana Rende, head of the Botany Department, played a crucial role in organizing this event. Dr. Shirbhate shed light on the medicinal, spiritual, and scientific importance of plants in her lecture. She stated that the significance of plants is not only academic but is directly linked to our daily lives. Pure air for breathing, food for nutrition, medicines for health—none of this is possible without the invaluable contributions of plants in nature. “Nature is the real pharmacy,” she asserted, mentioning herbs like basil, neem, turmeric, and ginger. Special emphasis was placed on the beneficial uses of these plants. They highlighted the importance of the medicinal, spiritual, and practical uses of plants in various cultures. The program was hosted by Prof. Manasi A. Chaudhari, while Prof. Shreya S. Gaikwad expressed gratitude. This event was successful thanks to the cooperation of professors, non-teaching staff, and students from the science department. This lecture gave students an insight into the wonderful world of plants and deepened their awareness of nature.
