Event brief: The National Mathematics Day is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of mathematics and the contributions made by Srinivasa Ramanujan, in the field of mathematics. The Program organized by Department of Mathematics Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Women’s College, Hinganghat was held on 22nd December 2023. The programme aimed to improve understanding among the general public, decision makers and in college, of the importance of mathematics in education.
Quiz competition and Poster competition were organized on the occasion of National Mathematics Day. The function was hosted by Prof. Monika D. Mauskar, Head of Department of Mathematics, Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Women’s College, Hinganghat. Final year students Ms. Pragati Zade and Ms. Dhanashri Sonwane served as the anchor for the event. The participation of esteemed guests added significance to the programme and set the tone for the sessions to follow.
On the first half of the program, Quiz Competition was organized by the faculty members. Solving questions will help students to enhance their knowledge and boost their self-confidence. Quizzes help one gain a broad or specialized understanding of the subject. The competition is anchored by Prof. M. D. Mauskar and Prof. R. R. Lonkar and judge by Mr. Sudhakar Tiple, Vidya Vikas Highschool, Hinganghat & Prof. Ganesh Lade Dept. of commerce Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar arts, commerce & science women’s college, Hinganghat.
On the second half of the event, Poster Competition was organized by the department. Posters are a great way to learn about and explore the world of mathematics. Creating maths posters will provide creative opportunities to express gained understanding of mathematical topics and share this knowledge with others. The competition was judged by Mr. Nitesh Rode Principal Vidya Vikas Highschool and junior College, Hinganghat. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition.
The guest speaker of the program was Mrs. Sankalpa P. Manmode International course instructor of abacus Vedic mathematics and phonics, running successfully online classes of abacus and Vedic mathematics nationally and internationally. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr. U. P. Tulaskar, Principal, Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Women’s College, Hinganghat, Dr. Sapna Jaiswal vice Principal, Matoshri Ashatai Kunawar Women’s College, Hinganghat and Mr. Nitesh Rode, Principal Vidya Vikas Highschool and junior College, Hinganghat. Prizes of respective competitions were distributed in the presence of dignitaries. Prof. Rakesh Lonkar delivered the vote of thanks. All the faculty members from department of Science played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme. Their dedication and efforts deserve appreciation for making this event a resounding success.
